The Sunday obituary No. 9

During an Omaha Royals game in 1988, Bartak, was ejected after the fifth inning for playing the Mickey Mouse theme song. Home plate umpire Tony Maners had been arguing with Royals Manager Glenn Ezell that day about balls and strikes when Bartak started playing the organ. Maners didnt like the song choice and sent a security officer to the pressbox to escort Bartak out of the stadium. The story hit newspapers all over the country and Bartak, who said Sunday he was just trying to entertain kids in the stands, became an instant celebrity.
